Seasons and very different and spectacular aspects and…. the colours from northern land are observed; from shy and delicate winter and spring gradations, to very warm and deep red and yellow colours of the summer of the midnight sun, to the daring blue and green colours of aurora borealis…. Hammerfest is inspired by them in realizing our eiderdown quilted products and they are created for those ones, like us, that love sleeping and wearing in a natural and comfortable way.
 
 
 
The eiderdown transformation
“The processing”, that allows to prepare feathers and eiderdown for fillings and textiles used for clothing and decoration without compromising the natural features, is very sophisticated and needs specialized technologies. Raw materials are freed from dust, carefully washed, sterilized and selected.
This last operation allows to obtain particularly elevated qualities, feathers and eiderdowns are indeed separated basing on their size and weight using a particular blast systems. The best selection allows to reach a 97/98% pure eiderdown, the remaining 2/3% is constituted by small feathers that due to their very little weight remain bound to eiderdown flocks.
The fabrics
A precious material like pure eiderdown requires a similar precious and natural material: the cotton.
The main features of those fabrics suitable for the creation of duvets and quilts are lightness, softness and above all a structure that does not allow eiderdown and small feathers to penetrate it.
Only a great experience can ensure a product suitable to this purpose. At this stage it can only be added fantasy, good taste and love for beautiful things, that emotion which overcomes us when we are choosing the best for us and for our home.
