The family Meyer has been operating in the textile sector for generations. In 1830 Josef Meyer was running a hand weaving mill in Triegen, in Lucerne Canton, that gave work to eighty workers. One of Josef’s descendants started in 1842 a fabrics business in Dagmersellen. His son Eduard Meyer-Braun (1850-1913) took over a hand weaving mill in Zofingen and at the end of the century created a power loom weaving mill in Mehsecken near Reiden, that in 1928 was destroyed by the fire.
His son Eduard Meyer-Mayor (1886-1964) moved to the prosperous textile San Gallo Canton, where being supported by his father-in-law Paul Louis Mayor, who was shepherd in the town of Cully in Vaud Canton, took over a factory in Neu St. Johann in Toggenburg, owned by Emil and Gustav Gnipper brothers. Gnipper brothers started their activity in 1857 at the beginning it was a yarns dyeworks becoming later a versatile weaving mill. Eduard Jr. and André Meyer-Fehr brothers run the weaving mill from 1942 to 1987, until when they gave it to André Meyer, who is today the only owner.
