The cooperative “Lou Dzeut” was a centre specialized in the hemp weaving in Val d’Aosta.

The hemp was cultivated in different areas of Val d’Aosta, mainly in the central valley, but its weaving took place in specialized centres, among which the one in Champorcher excelled. These centres processed the finest hemp fibres, while the coarse ones were used for the production of sacks and ropes. This ancient tradition was restored when these artisans created the cooperative “Lou Dzeut”, restoring the old looms restarting the production of bed sheets, hand towels, shirts in raw hempen cloth made precious by agreeable embroideries.
