In 1819 the sixteen years old Christian Fischbacher, born in St. Peterzell, a small village on Toggenburg mountains in Switzerland, starts his career and the future of the firm.
In 1830 he rents a warehouse in San Gallo. In 1945 his son Christian was born. In 1874 Otto Fischbacher was born, the founder’s nephew. The continuous growth of the firm leads to the purchase of an office in town. In 1914 the firm is already on the international market. The Great War, however, brings to a financial crash in Europe and all over the world, and of course the firm has some difficulties too. Christian Fischbacher succeeds in managing the firm through these difficult years. In 1915 Christian Fischbacher was born, the fourth generation. In 1929 Otto Fischbacher had to manage the company through the years of the financial crash. In 1938 Christian H. Fischbacher was born, the fifth generation. In 1939 before World War II, Christian Fischbacher moves with his family to New York where he opens the first foreign branch. He leads the firm for twelve years. In 1951 Otto Fischbacher let his son Christian, who has come back from the United States, to take the leads. In 1960 Christian Fischbacher get in contact with the Parisian Haute Couture. In Sixties and Seventies branches are open all over Europe and in Japan, above all for furnishing fabrics. In 1970 Michael Fischbacher was born, the sixth generation. In 1983 Christian Fischbacher leaves the management of the firm to his first born son Christian H. Fischbacher to go leading the international holding. In 1988 the offices of the headquarter in San Gallo Winkeln are finished.
